📚 WWW Wednesdays #5

What Are You Reading Wednesdays is a weekly book-blogging meme hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words.

The concept is simple, answer the following questions:

  • What are you currently reading?

  • What did you recently finish reading?

  • What do you think you’ll read next?

You can join in to! Just leave a comment with your link at Taking On's blog and then go on an adventure to find what other people are reading.

What are you currently reading?

To say that Vassa in the Night by Sarah Porter is strange would be an understatement. But, as you may have noticed from my book choices, I do love me a little bit of strange. It's a retelling of the classic Russian fairytale Vasilisa the Beautiful, but set in Brooklyn. In the trend of traditional fairy tales, Vassa in the Night does not shy away from gore, and the mixture of beauty, magic, and blood makes it all the more intriguing. Check out my review here!

What did you recently finish reading?

The Lie Tree is my second Frances Hardinge book (I read Cuckoo Song last year) and it is just as dark, mysterious, hopeful and heartbreaking as its predecessor (not sure what order they came out in but it's the predecessor in my eyes :-D). If you're looking for beautiful, atmospheric coming-of-age stories than Frances Hardinge is the author for you.

What do you think you'll read next?

Once again, I face the conundrum of wanting to tackle my TBR and not knowing which book to pick, so any help would be much appreciated! My options are: Still Life with Tornado by A.S. King, A Madness so Discreet by Mindy McGinnis, and Bloodtraitor by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes. Which should I read next?

And that's it for my three WWW's this week! If you've read any of the books, have heard about them, or just want to discuss bookish goodness, feel free to comment below!
